Filmster Network Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to respecting, protecting and clearly defining rights relating to usergenerated content and intellectual property across our digital services, including Filmster.ID, Filmster Studio, Reel Sense and associated collaboration and cocreation tools. This User Content & Intellectual Property Policy sets out how ownership, licensing, use, protection and enforcement of intellectual property are handled in accordance with applicable laws, including UK copyright law and related international frameworks.
1. Purpose and Scope
This policy defines the principles, rights, responsibilities and controls governing user content and intellectual property within Filmster Network’s platforms and services.
It applies to:
- All content uploaded, submitted, created, generated or shared by users on Filmster Network platforms.
- All intellectual property associated with creative works, metadata, assets, collaborations and derivatives created using our services.
- All users, contributors, collaborators, contractors and third parties accessing or using Filmster Network services.
2. Definitions
User Content refers to any content submitted or created by users, including but not limited to films, scripts, footage, audio, images, designs, text, metadata, comments, project data and creative assets.
Intellectual Property (IP) includes copyrights, moral rights, trademarks, design rights, database rights, patents and all related proprietary rights.
Platform IP refers to all intellectual property owned or licensed by Filmster Network, including software, code, interfaces, branding, workflows, data models and proprietary systems.
3. Ownership of User Content
Users retain ownership of the intellectual property in the User Content they create or upload, subject to any separate agreements entered into with collaborators or third parties.
Filmster Network does not claim ownership over User Content solely by virtue of hosting or processing it.
Where User Content is cocreated by multiple users, ownership and rights are determined by the applicable collaboration terms, project agreements, or explicit allocations defined within the platform.
4. Licence Granted to Filmster Network
By uploading or creating User Content on Filmster Network, users grant Filmster Network a limited, nonexclusive, royaltyfree, worldwide licence to:
Host, store, process and back up the content.
Display, perform or transmit the content as necessary to provide platform functionality.
Enable sharing, collaboration and controlled access as directed by the user’s settings.
This licence is strictly limited to operating, improving and securing the services and does not permit commercial exploitation of User Content without explicit user consent or a separate agreement.
5. User Responsibilities and Warranties
Users are responsible for ensuring that:
- They own or have the necessary rights, permissions and licences to upload and share User Content.
- User Content does not infringe thirdparty intellectual property rights, confidentiality obligations or applicable laws.
- Any use of thirdparty materials complies with applicable licences and attribution requirements.
Filmster Network may remove or restrict access to content that is alleged or found to infringe intellectual property rights.
6. Moral Rights and Attribution
Where applicable under law, users retain moral rights in their works, including the right to be identified as the author and to object to derogatory treatment.
Platform features supporting attribution, credits and contribution tracking are provided to help preserve creative recognition, but users remain responsible for ensuring accurate credits in collaborative projects.
7. Platform IP and Restrictions
All Platform IP remains the exclusive property of Filmster Network or its licensors.
Users may not:
- Copy, reverse engineer, modify or distribute platform software or systems.
- Use Filmster Network trademarks, branding or proprietary assets without permission.
- Create derivative products that compete with or replicate core platform functionality without authorisation.
8. Co-creation, Collaboration and Project Controls
Filmster Network provides tools for collaborative creation, versioning, permissions and access control.
Unless otherwise agreed, Filmster Network does not adjudicate ownership disputes between collaborators. Users are encouraged to define rights, revenue sharing and usage terms clearly within project settings or separate agreements.
9. Enforcement and IP Complaints
We operate procedures for handling intellectual property complaints, including takedown and counternotice processes consistent with applicable law.
Reports of infringement are reviewed promptly, and repeat infringers may face account restrictions or termination.
10. Data Use, Analysis and Derivatives
Filmster Network may analyse User Content in aggregated or anonymised form to:
- Improve platform performance and features.
- Develop insights, tools and services.
- Train internal systems where permitted by law and user settings.
Such use does not transfer ownership of User Content or expose identifiable creative works without consent.
11. Retention, Removal and Portability
Users may remove or export their User Content in accordance with platform functionality and retention policies.
Upon account termination, content is handled in line with contractual obligations, collaboration dependencies and applicable data protection requirements.
12. Policy Review and Change Control
This policy is reviewed periodically and updated to reflect changes in law, technology, platform features or risk considerations. Material changes will be communicated through appropriate channels.
